United States International University-Africa (USIU-Africa) has formed a partnership with the Mastercard Foundation to establish the global Scholars Program. This initiative aims to provide outstanding African youth facing financial, gender-related, displacement, or disability challenges with the chance to access top-tier university education.
The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at USIU-Africa will grant comprehensive scholarships to young Africans who are seeking their first undergraduate degrees. Upon completing their studies, these scholars will be expected to drive positive changes in their communities and contribute to significant progress throughout the continent, armed with internationally acclaimed and locally relevant qualifications.
Eligibility:
Individuals under 29 years of age in the following categories are eligible:
Young women
Young men
Refugees and displaced youth
Youth with disabilities

Scholars must showcase the following attributes:
Academic prowess: They must value education and possess personal determination to accomplish their learning journey. They should meet the university’s admission prerequisites as outlined by the Kenya Commission for University Education or its equivalent.
Dedication to giving back: Applicants need to exhibit a commitment to enhancing their communities through prior and/or ongoing involvement in community outreach initiatives.
Leadership potential: Scholars must display a dedication to becoming catalysts for change, role models, and mentors who uphold principled leadership.
Applicants should have an interest in, and satisfy USIU-Africa’s admission criteria and academic requirements to pursue any of the approved 11 undergraduate degree programs under the Scholars Program at USIU-Africa, as listed below:
School of Science and Technology (SST) – Bachelor of Science in Applied Computer Technology, Bachelor of Science in Information Systems and Technology;
School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (SPHS) – Bachelor of Pharmacy, Bachelor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics;
School of Communication, Cinematic and Creative Arts (SCCCA) – Bachelor of Arts in Animation, Bachelor of Arts in Film Production and Directing;
Chandaria School of Business (CSOB) – Bachelor of Science in Finance, Bachelor of Science in International Business Administration, and Bachelor of Science in Accounting;
School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) – Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.
